Robots and Dinosaurs

A Sydney Hackerspace and place for making things

Hackerspaces are venues for geeks, nerds and eggheads to share resources, work on projects and collaborate together.  Robots & Dinosaurs manages a space filled with technology, electronics, programming, engineering, 3D printing, photography, mechatronics, graphics and procrastination from the real world.

As we like to say, we're the only place you can get a soldering iron at 3am.

Whatever you're interested in, we want you to become a part of our community.  As long as, like us, you're a little bit geeky and proud of it.

The space: 662 Princes Hwy, Kogarah

    Board of Hackers Monthly Meeting.

News

  • Halloween talks and party: fun for all!

The Halloween talks and party were a huge hit.  We heard talks on iPhone app development and CNC milling (now we're all excited about buying a CNC milling machine).  In the afternoon we held the inaugural Hackerspace Halloween Watermelon Carving, ate pizza and watched movies. Read all about it and see photos on the R&D blog
  • We're on Wave!

Everyone's invited to join us on the Robots & Dinosaurs introductory wave.  It's a great place to introduce yourself, play around with Wave tools, and ask questions.  Want to set up a collaborative wave for a project?  Remember to tag the wave "robots&dinosaurs" and "hackerspace".
  • October board meeting decides on membership, parties!

During the October meeting, the Board made decisions about membership prices and payment methods. It also decided to have two upcoming feature days for members.  Read all about it here.

  • We assembled a MakerBot!

A MakerBot is a 3D printer that makes 3D objects out of extruded plastic. R&D bought the MakerBot from fellow hackers at NYC Resistor. Contact either Gavin or Chris if you want to learn how to use it.
  • Check out our new Robots and Dinosaurs Flickr group. Add your photos today!

All,

This is Perth hackspace, I'm interested in the encouragement of collaborating between the different hackspaces:
Were possible guy's can you please give all Oz Hackspaces a mention
Adelaide: http://groups.google.com/group/mindrail
Brisbane: http://groups.google.com/group/hackerspace_brisbane
Perth: http://hacklabperth.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Otherwise in the interest of fermenting interstate collaboration on ideas I've posed the following question (see the question in full - http://hacklabperth.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20)

"I'm interested in hearing all your idea's about you dream Hackspace project. In other word, what open-source, blue-sky widget you would like to help create."

I'd like to add my details to the directory, but I get a security error (I assume you have to be allowed to edit).

Also, I generally have my kids with me on Saturdays but I'd like to come round, is it cool if I bring them?

Cheers
