We created some hackerspace passport stamps for RnD, based on the concept developed by Mitch Altman here:
https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Passport
Make sure you get your passport stamped next time you're in the space! If you don't have a hackerspace passport you can:
- Get your notebook stamped instead!
- Download the PDF here and print your own
- Buy a passport from Seeedstudio here for less than $3
Next time you’re going travelling, you might want to check the list of hackerspaces to see if there’s a place you can drop in and see what they’re up to. It’s getting harder and harder to find a city where there isn’t one now!
Members from RnD have visited hackerspaces all around America, Japan, China, Europe and also been visited by people from all over the world in return.
Making a stamp:
The lasercutter was use to make the stamp. Common lino (get it from a craft shop) is fine, just make sure it passes the copper test and hence has no chlorine or PVC in it.
I used 20% power at 100mm/sec raster engrave for the image. Don't forget to invert the colours and also horizontally mirror to make sure it comes out correctly.
Cutting out the circular outline was done at 10mm/sec and 45% power, and seemed to work nicely.
